My Mission and Vision
In 2013, I was consumed with a passion and desire to improve my quality of life. I began to walk, run and cycle around my city. I quickly began to realize that the city of Calgary, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada has a vast expanse of gorgeous natural spaces to offer to anyone willing to look around. We are home to one of the largest municipal parks in North America, Nosehill park with it's great history still showing visible traces of the buffalo that once roamed the land. In the south end of the city is huge provincial park, Fishcreek home to a huge stock of wildlife and the Weaselhead to the west, a unique natural wetland. This is just the tip of the ice burg.
In 2017, I decided to begin documenting some of the beautiful birds to behold in Calgary, as I am an avid bird watcher. I have a great respect for these animals, and love viewing them in their natural habitat. I also love to visit the rescued birds of prey at the Calgary Zoo. Fast forward now to 2018 and beyond, I have expanded my initial ink drawings. I have begun teaching myself how to paint and am now including watercolours into the series. It is my hope that my passion can be contagious and spread awareness of these beautiful green spaces in my city, and to encourage others to venture out and explore what may only be just a few kilometers from your front door. Take a moment to slow down and take it all in.

Where am I going next?
As I build my series of work, the images still remain quite generic. I would like to begin including direct references to Alberta and specifically Calgary to help further my mission. I will continue to improve my watercolors as I have found a deep and profound love for the medium as it is the perfect accompaniment to my true art love, drawing. Particularly, drawing with ink.
Who am I?
I am a new father to a beautiful little girl! I am a husband to my beautiful wife!
I am a classically trained artist. I graduated with a Degree in Fine Art (major in drawing) from the Alberta College of Art & Design in 1999. I graduated with a Master in Teaching degree (BEd) from the University of Calgary in 2006.
I currently work in broadcasting, and in my spare time I paint, and draw (among other things). My wife and I share a love for all things outdoors which includes but is not limited to cycling and hiking. We also share a passion for going to the cinema no matter how cheesy the movie.
I am currently working on a series of bird drawings, but have a love of the human form and portraiture.
